KIVY is the Local Station for the Crockett/Houston County Trade Area.

Always has been.  Always will.  For more than 53 years, KIVY has been the place to turn for daily coverage of local news, weather and sports, plus special events.  Today, we are still the only daily media outlet whose primary focus is covering the local events in Houston, Trinity and Leon counties.  Our entire morning drive time (6 to 10 am) is devoted to local news and information.  And our broadcast center is located in the heart of our trade area, on the Square in Downtown Crockett.

KIVY is an East Texas Tradition.

We've been broadcasting and serving our communities since 1950.  KIVY was founded by Jim Gibbs, and in our entire 53-year history, the station ownership and management has changed only one time.  Leon Hunt is the current owner/general manager.  Leon started his broadcast career in the 1970's, working part-time at KIVY while attending college.  We live in a rapidly changing world.  But we are proud of our heritage.  And just as always, KIVY will continue to be a stable partner that our listeners and advertisers can depend on.

KIVY has the Most Popular Morning Team in East Texas.

For 25 years, East Texans have awakened tot he familiar voice of Lonnie Hunt.  A lifelong East Texan, Lonnie gets listeners off to a good start at 6 o'clock each weekday.  He'll give you everything you need to know -- plus a few things you don't.  From 8 to 10 am things really heat up when the East Texan meets his match when Joanne Warner, a transplanted Cajun, joins Lonnie on the air for more fun.  You never know what this pair will come up with next, but one thing is for certain -- you don't want to miss it.

KIVY plays the Best Country Around on 92.7 FM.

After starting the day off with news and information from 6 to 10 am, we play the Best Country Around on KIVY-FM.  (After all, this is Texas!)  Our blend of traditional country favorites plus fresh new songs really lives up to its billing.  KIVY-FM is a regional station with strong 50,000 watt signal that reaches into more than 20 counties.  However, our primary focus continues to be the residents of Houston, Trinity and Leon counties.

KIVY plays Timeless Classics on 1290 AM.

Our Adult Standards format on KIVY-AM features all the unforgettable hits of the past 50 years.  The music is a blend of recent soft hits and timeless classics.  This format is extremely popular with the large population of older citizens in our area.  This group makes up an important segment of customers for area businesses.

KIVY is the Leader in Farm & Ranch Programming.

Frank Minton is East Texas' all-time most popular farm broadcaster.  He is heard exclusively on KIVY, weekday mornings between 6:35 and 6:55 am.
